Speciation and Detection of Virulence Factors of Coagulase Negative Staphylococci Isolated from Various Clinical Samples

چکیده
Coagulase negative Staphylococci (CoNS), more commonly accounted as contaminants are now considered as a important potential pathogens with increase in use of implants and with the increase in frequency and number of severely debilitated patients. More than 30 species of CONS are recognised but only a few are commonly incriminated in human infections. Although CoNS were long considered nonpathogenic and having few virulence factors, new factors have lately been determined in the period of gradual clarification of pathogenesis. The majority of known factors are incorporated into the biofilm formation (Longuaerova, 2006). Production of biofilm by coagulase negative Staphylococci especially in higher incidence by S. Prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibilities of coagulasenegative Staphylococci isolated from mammary secretions in pregnant Holstein heifers
Mammary secretions of 913 quarters from 229 pregnant Holstein heifers were obtained aseptically to determine the prevalence of coagulase-negative Staphylococci isolated during periparturient period. Quarter samples were collected 14 to 10 days before expected parturition. Analysis of culture data indicated that 78.5% (717/913) of samples were negative, 20.5% (187/913) contained coagulase-negati...
متن کاملSpecies Distribution and Virulence Factors of Coagulase Negative Staphylococci Isolated From Clinical Samples From the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State, Nigeria
Coagulase negative staphylococci (CoNS) have become a major public health problem due to an increase in invasive procedures and antibiotic resistance. The prevalence and some virulence factors of CoNS species isolated from clinical samples obtained from a hospital in Benin-City, Nigeria was investigated. A total of 79 clinical samples were collected from clinical specimens over a six month peri...
متن کاملCharacterization of hemolysins of Staphylococcus strains isolated from human and bovine, southern Iran
The staphylococci are important pathogenic bacteria causing various infections in animals and human. Hemolysin is one of the virulence factors of coagulase-positive (CPS) and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS). The aims of the study were to characterize hemolysins of Staphylococcus spp. isolated from human and bovine origin, phenotypic- and genotypically. Characterization of hemolysin pheno...
متن کاملSpeciation and Antibiogram of Clinically Significant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci
Background: Coagulase negative staphylococci (CoNS), once considered as non-pathogenic commensal of skin and mucus membrane have emerged as important pathogen. Aim: The aim of this study is to determine species of CoNS and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of species obtained from various clinical specimens. Materials and Methods: A total of 79 Coagulase negative staphylococci (CoNS) isolate...
متن کاملCharacteristics of staphylococci isolated from clinical and subclinical mastitis cows in Shahrekord, Iran
Staphylococci isolated from 98 mastitic cow’s milk samples were analyzed for the production of alpha, beta and delta-hemolysin on sheep, bovine and horse red blood cells and in vitro susceptibility to several antimicrobial agents. Out of a total of 18 isolated strains, 100% demonstrated hemolytic activity either alone or in combined forms. Among 8 isolates of S. aureus 3 isolates produced α/β an...
